Common questions when hiring a local pest control professional.

"Are your chemicals and treatments harmful to my kids, my dogs, or my cats?"

We exclusively use EPA tested and approved products in accordance with their federally approved labels. This means that your technician will have training in which products are designed for use in your home as well as how to safely yet effectively apply them. You are always encouraged to ask questions or raise concerns so we can help ease your mind.

"What if I only want limited service? Will I be forced to sign a long term contract with termination fees?"

At Peerless, we do things differently. You will not be obligated to take services you do not want or need. After your initial service you are free to re-assess the situation and determine whether or not you would like follow up visits. Most customers choose some sort of ongoing protection, at least for several months, but it is an open ended commitment which you have the choice to discontinue at any time. No termination fees, no hoops to jump through.

"Am I going to be surprised with hidden fees?"

We hate hidden fees as much as you do. We do our best to quote an accurate price over the phone (when possible) and to tell you when there are variables that could influence the price. It is extremely rare that the price you are charged deviates from the range of what was given ahead of time. Price accuracy depends strongly on whether or not the situation was accurately represented to us by the customer during phone conversations.

"How long does it take to get rid of ants in my home?"

Most ant problems can be cleared up within 1-3 visits. Whether or not your situation calls for any follow up services, you can expect a significant improvement after the first treatment. The conditions inside and outside your home are teh two largest factors that influence how quickly your ant infestation will clear up. Proper sanitation is the best way to slow the progression of any pest issue. When neighbors aren't doing their part, that can influence how many treatments you need and whether ongoing protection is necessary.

"How long does it take to get rid of roaches in my home?"

There are actually 3 kinds of roaches that we deal with in the greater Philadelphia region; German, American, and Oriental. Lighter infestations can be cleared up in 1-3 visits and some take ongoing treatment to maintain that control. Whether or not you need maintenance on a 1, 2 or 3 month basis highly depends on the condition of your home both sanitation and structurally. As food and clutter become more available the rate of population growth increases.

  1. German or "kitchen" roaches can most often be eliminated fully when you are not in a home sharing a wall with a neighbor that is the source of the problem. When the neighbor is the source of the infestation, ongoing prevention becomes more necessary as the infestation never gets addressed at the source - but that doesn't mean you have to see them on your side.
  2. American or "flying" roaches typically show up in basements and then can make their way upstairs through opening in walls and floors. These are more likely to be eliminated or more completely controlled long term after an adequate amount of treatment as they are less likely to be deeply embedded.
  3. Oriental roaches or "waterbugs" typically enter through unused drain pipes in a basement or through foundational cracks after climbing out city sewers. They tend to be less severe when it comes to infestations but since they populate sewers there can be always be a.nearby population trying to enter your home. Regular visits from Peerless can ensure there is a consistent barrier of pesticides and baits to attack them before they enter or if they get inside.
"How long does it take to get rid of mice and rats in my home?"

Both rats and mice can be persistent when it comes to a home infestation but Peerless has the tools to fight back effectively. We use a variety of traps and baits to control the infestation as quickly as possible inside the home, often gaining complete or near complete control in 1-2 months. As with any other invading pest, the conditions inside and outside the home have a large impact on this. The worse the sanitation is in the immediate vicinity, the more likely they will thrive and try to re-produce rapidly. This is why Peerless' rodent service includes a thorough inspection - we identify entry points and cut off access to future rodents.

"How long does it take to get rid of bed bugs in my home?"

Bed bugs are one of the most dreaded pests to deal with. As bed bug experts, Peerless has developed a protocol to reliably eliminate even advanced stage infestations quickly - often attaining complete elimination in 2-4 weeks. The biggest factor in how long it takes to eliminate a bed bug infestation is the condition of the home and cooperation when preparing the home for treatment. At Peerless we are so confident in our whole home bed bug elimination service that it comes with a 60 day complete elimination guarantee.

"How long does it take to get rid of fleas in my home?"

Fleas are another pest than are distressing to have in your home. Peerless has developed a reliable protocol for getting rid of any flea infestation, typically within 30 days. Relief starts on day 1 but due to the advanced biology of fleas and their innate defenses, we need to work (to some degree) around their biological schedule. Peerless puts a 45 day complete elimination on any complete flea home treatment so you can rest easy knowing they will be completely eliminated.

All products we use are evaluated for safety and approved by the EPA.
